Happy New Year everyone! It has been a rollercoaster ride in the world, ups and downs, good news and bad news. As Christians, however, we know that what happens in the world does not truly reflect what is going on in God’s timetable. What is joyful and happy in the eyes of God is not the same as the things they celebrate in the world. For example, there is joy in heaven over one sinner who repents (Lk.15:10). Vice versa, the things that are sad and tragic before heaven is not the same as things that are sad in the world. Still, we are flesh and blood and things that happens to us and around us affect us. As I reflected on the new year, I was reminded of the words of Jeremiah concerning the God we serve. Lamentation 3:19-24 says,

“Remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and bitterness. Surely my soul remembers and is bowed down within me. This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Thy faithfulness. ‘The LORD is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I have hope in Him.’”

May we remember this about our God. He cares for us and His lovingkindness will never fail us. They are new every morning! As we begin a new year, may God wash away all our troubles and give us a new joy, wisdom, power, and victory in Christ!
