Corrie Ten Boom is probably one of the most famous Christians in modern times due to her testimony of hiding Jews in her home from the Nazis and her imprisonment because of it. Though her family members died, she survived to tell her family’s story by writing and speaking about it. Her book entitled “The Hiding Place” was even made into a movie by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Corrie Ten Boom was born in 1892 in Haarlem, Netherlands, and passed away in 1983 in the United States. Her father, Casper, was a jeweler and watchmaker, and she had three siblings. During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, her family actively participated in the resistance movement, assisting Jews in escaping imprisonment. They are famous for concealing Jews in their home within a secret room behind a wall, referred to as “the hiding place.” Unfortunately, a Dutch neighbor betrayed them, leading to their capture and imprisonment in a political concentration camp. She endured significant hardship alongside her sister Betsie, who ultimately perished in the camp. Shortly before the end of World War II, Corrie was scheduled for execution in a gas chamber, but God miraculously saved her. After the war, she began sharing her testimony and authored a book recounting her experiences. One notable story involves her meeting a former German prison guard who had been cruel to her and her sister Betsie, and offering him forgiveness.

Corrie’s Christian testimony is a powerful story of faith and courage in the face of unimaginable evil. Her survival from the German concentration camps and later efforts to share her story through writing and speaking have left a lasting mark on the Christian community. Her testimony serves as an inspiration for Christians today to live faithfully in accordance with God’s teachings, even when confronted with evil. Yes, evil is all around us and is getting bolder each day. Her courage and dedication to God’s command to love one’s neighbors, even in difficult circumstances, are a great challenge to us. She didn’t just talk about it but practiced it. Her testimony encourages us to trust in God and to act with compassion and bravery. More than ever, we need Christians who can stand up for biblical convictions with courage, boldness, and conviction.

Below is a movie called “The Hiding Place” based on Corrie’s book, produced by World Wide Pictures of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
