Here is one of my favorite prayers that I pray everyday! I use it as a book mark for my Bible so that I am reminded of it every time I open it. It is called “The Prayer of Serenity,” and here is what it says:

There is a full version of this prayer, but I love this part of the prayer. I love it because it reminds me to be responsible for things that I am responsible for, and trust God with the things that I have no control over. This is the prayer that helps me to have peace in my mind and heart in times of trials, difficulties, and storms in life.

First, there are things in life that I can and must do.

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Mic.6:8)

“Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do, and does not do it, to him it is sin.” (Ja.4:17)

Second, there are things in life that I have no control over and must trust God with them.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” (Prov.3:5-6)

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil.4:6-7)

Third, God’s gives us His wisdom to discern things in life.

“So give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people to discern between good and evil…” (King Solomon, 1 Ki.3:9)

“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” (Ja.1:5)
