This is Jack Wyrtzen. He is one of the Christian leaders from the Greatest Generation that I admire. He was a Christian evangelist with a heart for youth of his generation, and a contemporary of Billy Graham. After he became a believer, he commited his life to preaching the gospel wherever he had the opportunity. He preached at church, Youth for Christ meetings, on radio programs, and even street corners. In 1940, he founded the Word of Life Fellowship which turned into the Word of Life Bible Institute in Schroon Lake, New York. WOLBI has branched out other parts of the world like Canada, Hungary, South Korea, Uganda, and Brazil. In addition to the Bible Institute that trains and equips people with the Word, it holds youth camps, conferences, and youth ministries. Many young people have gone through the program, and I was one of them graduating in the class of 1987. Having met the man in person and hearing his messages, I was touched by his passion and zeal to preach the gospel. He died in 1996. To this day, it reminds me to be faithful and committed to holding forth the Word of Life wherever I go.
