Here is a discussion between William Lane Craig and Ben Shapiro regarding the differences between Christianity and Judaism. As you may already know, Ben Shapiro is a devout Jew who is faithful to Judaism and Israel. I found this debate very interesting because it gave me the mindset of the modern-day Jews and what they believe about their Messiah. According to Ben, the Jewish Messiah is described as a political figure who will restore the status of Israel and act as a defender against her adversaries. They do not believe the Messiah to be a God-in-flesh type of being who will save the people from sin and death. William Lane Craig, who is a professor of apologetics at Talbot Seminary, does an excellent job of articulating the claims of Jesus as the Messiah, not just for the Jews, but for the whole world. He claims that the primary difference between Jesus and all other messiahs is the resurrection and the empty tomb. The claims of Jesus as a Messiah were radically different from those of the Jewish rabbis of his day. My heart goes out to Ben and Jewish people like him who faithfully believe in a messiah who will restore Israel, but have nothing to do with deliverance from sin and death.
