If the 12 Apostles applied for jobs today in one of the megachurches, how do you think they would fare? Jesus prayed all night to choose twelve disciples as his apostles, but did he choose the right people for the job? Luke 6:12-16 says,
“And it was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God. And when day came, He called His disciples to Him; and chose twelve of them, whom He also named as apostles: Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James and John; and Philip and Bartholomew; and Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot; Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.”
So, if Jesus hired a consulting company to interview, assess, and make suggestions on hiring them, how would they rate as potential candidates? Below is a funny illustration that I found, that may indicate how it would’ve turned out. It reminded me of what God said to Prophet Samuel in 1 Samuel 16:7 that “man looks at the outward appearances, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
