Here is one of my favorite Christian books in an animated movie! This was one of books that greatly impacted me when I became born-again believer. Written by John Bunyan in 1678, it tells the journey of a person discovering salvation and his journey to heaven. It still remains to be a popular book and speaks to new generation of believers. Theologically speaking, Christian salvation can be described in three aspects: 1) Justification – salvation from the penalty of sin, 2) Sanctification – salvation from the power of sin, and 3) Glorification – salvation from the presence of sin. The story of Christian in the Pilgrim’s Progress touches on all three aspects of salvation, and various issues that we face in our journey to heaven. May the Lord bless you through this classic!
“At the top of the hill stood a cross, and a little below at the bottom was a stone tomb. In my dream, just as Christian came up to the cross his burden loosened from his shoulders and fell off his back. It tumbled and continued to do so down the hill until it came to the mouth of the tomb where it fell inside and was seen no more.” (John Bunyan)
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.” (Col.2:6-7)
“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb.12:1-2)
“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Phil.1:6)
