Here is the second part of the command concerning husbands and wives. In comparison to the “Holy Women Club,” I have titled this one, “Rise Up, O Men of God.” Let’s read 1 Peter 3:7 concerning how men of God should behave as leaders of their homes:

“You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.”

Here are some lessons we can clean from this verse:

  1. In Relationships –
  • Be merciful –  “Live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman…”
  • Be gracious – “…and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life.”

2. In Responsibilities –

“…so that your prayers may not be hindered.”

The primary responsibility of the husband is to keep communication with God open –

  • Talking to God about the affairs of your family, church, and world around you.
  • Hearing Him as accurately as possible for guidance.

“But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Tim.6:11-12, NIV)
