One of the best Christian testimony in my opinion. Joni has inspired and challenged my faith ever since I first became a Christian at 21. Whenever I struggle in my walk with God and complain how hard things are, I am reminded of Joni’s walk of faith. It reminds me that my pain, struggles, and frustrations are very small. In some parts of the world, there are others who carries much heavier burdens of the cross in order to shine the glory of God. There are some who are heavily persecuted, churches attacked or burned, living with constant death threats, rejected and abandoned by family because of conversion to Christ, and even died leaving behind wife and children. I am put to shame for complaining about problems I face as Christian, and church growth obstacles in the United States. It reminds me that God uses the foolish, the weak, the despised, and the broken to demonstrate His love and power (1 Cor.1:26-29).

As Apostle Paul perfectly summarized:

“And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’ Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Cor.12:9-10).

It reminds me to have the attitude of John the Baptist who said,

“He must increase, but I must decrease” (Jn.3:30).

Here is a movie about her from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association starring Joni herself!
