I found Nabeel Qureshi’s testimony to be inspiring, informative, and intellectually stimulating. His full testimony can be found in his book, Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus. HIs testimony helped me to understand the thought process, religious commitments, and worldview and values of ordinary Muslims in the United States. It also helped me to see where they are coming from, and what they are trying to achieve in life that can be instrumental in loving them to Christ. Having said this, I was heartbroken when he died at the young age of 34.
It is truly tragic that the Lord had to take Nabeel home in his young age when he was making tremendous impact for Christ and could’ve been an instrument for more amazing things in the future. This is one area that I have struggle in my faith. I ask God, “Why couldn’t you heal Nabeel and let him live so that he could be used by you more powerfully, widely, and intellectually? Surely, he could’ve better served you by living rather than dying?” It reminded me of the brothers James and John, who were both disciples of Christ. Yet, James was martyred right at the beginning of the church and John stayed alive to serve God to his old age. We don’t know why God does this. However, I am 100% certain of one thing, and that is: God is good and knows what He is doing. God even told Nabeel from the very beginning of his faith journey, “Because it is not about you.” This is where God is challenging, stretching, and growing my faith to trust in the goodness of God rather than what happens to me and around me.
“Seeking Allah, finding Jesus…” (Nabeel Qureshi)
“You see I have gotten to this point where I intellectually knew Christianity was a strong case. I had emotionally received all kinds of guidance through the New Testament, and I had spiritual guidance from the Lord himself, yet I had not proclaimed Christ.” (Nabeel Qureshi)
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Rom.8:28)
